A Voorhees NJ Church gathered once again on one of the beaches of Atlantic City for a day of memorial, celebration, and dedication.
The annual beach baptism and church outing was instituted in 2008 and has become an anticipated event for the congregation. According to attendees, every year has been different with this year drawling one the largest turn outs.
The church outreaches to other congregations and post to make the day a time of Church unity as well. The various pastors with member awaiting baptism took turns in the waves and sometime simultaneously dunking converts.
Although the ocean ceremony may be somewhat nostalgic in a day when churches have indoor baptism pools. The congregations stood on beach and in tide singing spirituals such as Wade in the Water cheering and praising as new and fellow saints emerged strait way out of the sea.
This year’s gathering added another page to the digital photo album. Meeting House’s senior pastor’s Daryl and Shirley Farrar celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows. Ironically while standing on the sand of the shore, they confirmed the foundation of marriage that is built on the rock even in this present day.
