How To Build an Ark (or any ministry or Business) in 10 steps
by Rev. Terrence G. Clark
It’s interesting to study the patriarchs of the bible through a business and entrepreneurial view. Termed, righteous men and women, these were people who were given an idea, dream, vision or mission and assigned the task of working them out. Of course, ultimately, the finality of their projects would not be by their self-generated power, intuition or ability. The success of their assignments would come from faith in God and His corresponding power to go beyond human limitations. In God’s methodology, an individual’s current economic or personal state doesn’t matter (relevant) when God gives them a task, ministry, or business. What God wants to accomplish through people will always be out beyond their natural means to make it happen. This is his signature and seal. It is the Word of the testimony that announces that anyone can follow him without failure.
Out of all the patriarchs of Faith, studied in the bible, next to Jesus, I believe Noah to be one with the greatest imagination. Noah was the Walt Disney of his day. God’s dissatisfaction with mankind, in the time period, was not just the sin alone, but the fact that it had contaminated their imaginations. Sin had become the dominating thought on the mind of every single person man, woman, boy or girl.
And apparently, in the presence of sin, and its constant concern to satisfy fleshly passions, there leaves little to no room for entertaining God. The Bible says the imaginations of men were continually wicked. Wicked means twisted, warped, not able to see the straight line. Another definition is to be natural minded or not able to see out of the box. The contrast, Noah came from a family (the only family left) that was separated from this world view and accepted thought of sin.
In the 2013 rendition of Superman, in the movies, more of the history of his doomed home planet Krypton was revealed, along with his family’s position & importance in the Kryptonian society. The Family of “El” crest was a “S” like symbol, which Clark aka "Kal-El" aka "Superman" explained wasn’t an “S”. The symbol stood for Hope. Noah’s family on the doomed planet Earth had a family crest called righteousness. They probably didn’t wear it as plaque on their chest, although a fitting place for a righteous emblem.
Righteous in its simplest form is to see things right - then living, walking, thinking, and dreaming in that revelation. When righteousness is activated, it is the ability to hear from God, the righteous creator of all things. Righteousness consciousness understands that God’s ways and thoughts are the only right things. And therefore, the only thing that is really good.

Therefore, God was able to speak to Noah’s imagination. God told Him I want you to build and Ark because it’s going to rain. For us, it easier to grasp that word, but Noah had never heard of an ark. And even if he did, he never heard of rain. To Noah, it was a different Word from God. It was something that was unique. It was something that was phenomenal. To those he shared it with, he probably sounded like a nut, a quack, or a man with a tremendous (farfetched) imagination. Many great scientists, whose theories are taught in our universities, ideas were consider strange and farfetched until mathematically explained or literally proven.
In the entertainment universe, Walter Elias “Walt” Disney had an ideal to build a theme park that families could come and have fun together. He is probably known throughout history as a genius theme park builder, eclectic entrepreneur, and mega movie producers. His vision however was much simpler - “To Make People Happy.” He stayed the course of his vision and theme parks and movies, apparel, golf courses, radio, characters etc. come out of that. Noah will probably always be known as an ark builder. Scripture simply says he was "one who obeyed God." |
Noah’s project would definitely make Disney proud. And the idea of animals and humans together on an adventure to a new world would be up his alley. So for other Disney’s and Noah’s here are some pointers on how to bring into fruition that world changing assignment.
It’s also interesting to note that the Word “genius” in the 14 century didn’t refer to extraordinary natural ability, but rather to aid from a supernatural being. Hence, genius was not the individual, but a guiding force or being. The relativity is the thought that genius as well as imagination is not just of human ability but impartation from God.

How to Build an Ark (or any Ministry or Business) in 10 Steps
1. Hear from God.
You have to have an open imagination, but one built upon God. You must identify God’s voice from the earthquakes and winds of the media, the crowd, and world trends. 2. Obey God. This goes beyond just attitude or surrender. this is the consistency of the project. You must, every moment, conclude that you will do this assignment until He tells you otherwise. 3. Believe the impossible or believe that it’s possible. Okay, you heard from God. You are willing to obey. But when He says, to walk on the water, or go to the other side, you must believe. A journey without faith is a terrifying ride and will be sure having you bailing out in the middle. 4. Get a team. Noah’s sons helped him (and I am sure that Mrs. Noah and their daughters-in-law) were in support. Your team will not only help complete the job but will helps to encourage you when (not "if") discouragement comes. 5. Be patient In scripture, it is a matter of verses, but the time to build and market the Ark Project took over 100 years. Noah was committed to the project. Remember patience, in its purest form, is saying and believing tomorrow what you said and believe today. |
6. Know your purpose and calling. |
And although, we think of the size and magnitude of Noah‘s ark project, It is never said that Noah’s Ark was designed to carry a lot of people. The high level success of Noah preaching was that there would be no need for the ark, because the masses believed his preaching.
Your vision or dreams may not be the thing that has worldwide implementation, but it may definitely be that things which was given to bless your family. Congruently, if it blesses your family, it may become a resource that affects the world in a new way. Also, if the current culture doesn’t want your God given product, idea, or ministry - allow God through you to establish a new one that will.
