Parallel Universe
by Terrence G. ClarkWe Are Not Alone
Parallel Universe is a concept used in science fiction. It’s the thought that the universe, its stars, its planets, and inhabitants do not exist alone in a singular realm. The term “we are not alone” doesn’t extend just to the linear universe, but to a multidimensional existence of invisible worlds, located on other planes, side by side. The DC Comics universe list over 54 of these alternate realities. Within these worlds exist alternates creatures and people—doppelgangers who live in alternate versions of their life story. The multiverse, as expressed in the comics, would be hard to exist in the reality of scripture. If a multiverse did exist, the reality of Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1-3 would still be in play. There still could only be one Creator, one God, one Jesus, one plan of redemption. Ephesians 4:4-6 establishes—There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Conversely, the Bible does express the existence of dimensions. Being born-again is expressed as being born from above in John 3:7. In Colossians 1:13, salvation is explained as being translated from one realm to another. Throughout the epistle of Ephesians, a Christian is identified as having dual existence—one on earth, and the other in heaven, at the same time. |
Jesus said, in my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places—if it were not so, I would not have told you (John 14:2). In Acts 1:9-11, Jesus was received up into heaven, via the clouds, until he disappeared out of sight. We assume he went “up” into heaven and he did geographically. But where did he go beyond the vanishing point? In perspective, if heaven is up, as in the sky, then which way is up, for people living on the opposite side of the globe?
Crisis On A Finite Earth
Benjamin Franklin is accredited for saying "nothing is certain but death and taxes". The reality is nothing is certain but God’s Word and His promises. Everything that currently exists in this present world economy and dispensation will one day end. This earth and the surrounding heavens will be destroyed and a new one birthed (2 Peter 3:10-13.) |
Contra wise, despite apocalyptic measurements of famine and drought, Jesus said, in the last days, the social-economic world would be flourishing (Matthews 24:38). He said folks will be eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage—depicting life before the end will be prosperous and confident. (Marrying doesn’t just refer to church bells, but the entering of covenants.) The Holy Spirit said through the prophet Daniel, men would travel the world virtually limitlessly and information will be in abundance (Daniel 12:4).
Peter says people would be brash and challenge the veracity of biblical prophecy.
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation (2 Peter 3:3,4).
In referencing climate change, a librarian said to me about the 2020 Ground Hog’s Day. “It’s amazing how people can believe a furry animal and not believe hundreds of scientists.” Most people know that whether Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, or not, there will be six more weeks until the spring equinox. Accordingly, whether people dismiss climate change or not, this world will eventually pass away.

I admit, I’m a Trekkie, a follower of the Star Trek franchise, but the premise of Gene Roddenberry’s outer space fiction is a journey of the evolution of man. It’s humans, and their alien counterparts, evolving in mind and purpose escaping all earthly boundaries.
This is great for the imaginative, to think beyond limits, but according to the Bible, the fullness of humanity is only known in the finished works of Christ on the cross. This revelation and experience, in turn, transforms the believer into an alien right here on earth. John 15:19 teaches, although we live in this world with its ideologies, we should live our life as emulating God’s kingdom.
Dual Citizenship
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:(Philippians 3:20).
The Greek word “conversation” in this verse is “politeuma”. It’s from where the English word “politics” is derived. There is nothing detrimentally wrong with Christians being involved in politics or government. The scriptures encourage it. However, that allowance does not necessarily mean run for political office but engage firstly with prayer.
Believers are to prioritize praying for the king (president), leaders, and state officials. We must understand, our prayers, in the spirit, tremendously affect the powers that be in both the spiritual and physical world (Ephesians 6:10-19, James 5:14-18). And, political involvement beyond prayer is legitimized in Jesus’ Luke 19:11-27 parable of citizens entrusted and empowered to occupy and influence the world in which they live.
Although, biblical principles govern all the universe. The world (as in the social-economic system that governs the secular realm) doesn’t understand kingdom principles. God says the process to increase is to sow, tithe and give away money. The world teaches, in times of famine or lack—withhold, horde and covet—unless they have learned these kingdom principles.

The Truth of the Universe
In the physics of all the universe, everything—all the world, without end, are held together by the “truth”. In that truth is contained the principle of light. As such, the quantum reality of light is the building block of the universe. It has no substance apart from God and His Word. No matter how prudent a thing is, if it cannot be substantiated by something greater, then it is not absolute. |
Genesis 1:3 records God creating light. The light came out of Him. The blueprint for “light” that we know is fashioned from “The Light” Jesus Christ himself. John 1 and 1 John 1 says the truth of the matter is that “God is light”. "Light" goes beyond what we can see. Light reveals what we see and substantiates—holds together what we see.
Locating Jesus in All This
The bible says the truth is in Jesus.
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: Ephesians 4:21.
This is not just talking about a summation of truth and His understanding of what works. This “truth” is the very controls of the universe---by which it is formed, consists, propelled and ends.
God is direct, particularly with his declaration of truth and reality. The logos of scripture is complete and concrete. God’s Word is greater than even perceived reality. If Jesus walked into a conversation on a Saturday and answered the question—"What day is it?” with “Tuesday.”— recheck the calendar, because at that moment forward, it would be.

Truth changes facts and history. The truth of DNA—-has changed many destinies, overturning the ruling, and sentencing of a past conviction. Regardless if history is indelibly recorded, God’s truth can still change the evidence. In 2 Corinthians 7:2, Apostle Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus—a murderer was able to truthfully say “I have wronged no man”.
"Truth" had changed the man. The old man—the murderer had died. He knew, the man he was, no longer existed—regardless of what the earthly reality recorded. The old man had been consumed in the truth of heavenly redemption. A new man had emerged.

Truth is also evident when a sinner, standing on the truth of the redeeming shed blood of Jesus, boldly declares, “It’s no longer I that lives, but it’s Christ that lives in me. I, therefore, am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” The parallel universe is expanded more when this life steps into the predestinated universe of the handbook of Ephesians.
Creator Absolute
So, whether the comics are correct concerning multiverse, multi-dimensions, or parallel earths everything must expand back through Jesus Christ. If doppelgangers exist, it is still without conflict, every individual must stand before the Creator, Judge, and Lover of all the universe.
Revelation 20:12 decrees that all the dead small and great must kneel before him. In 2 Corinthians 5:10, For those of us who believe, accountability lies on what we have done in our "individual" bodies, and not what was done by our counterparts on Earth 99.
