Phone Number Value
Ring, Ring...Whose There?
By Terrence Clark
So I found myself in life coach mode again, inadvertently. This time, I was counseling someone on the value of a phone number.
An unrecognized number kept showing up in my text and phone logs. By the message, I found out who it was and confirmed that the number was their new number so I could update my contact list. From this individual, I have had in the past, several different numbers. Five of which were currently, on my list, and no longer valid. “Yes,” was the answer. The explanation was seemingly plausible. Apparently, they signed under a new phone company. The offer was with new lines---you get new phones. It was something like that or the other. And, it’s okay to keep shopping for the best deals and make the adjustment when found. Paying hundreds of dollars a month for phone and service is still not settling in my mind, especially compared to the 29 dollar bill we paid per line (and 15 dollar phone from Kmart) some years ago. Yes, in the olden days, good old golden days, there wasn’t much choice and Ma Bell and then AT&T were the only selections. |
Knowingly, if you’re going to make the change, keep your number. Unless, you’re being hunted by the FBI or an old high school love interest, who still has your number and decided to check you out. And hopefully, they’re not one and the same. Although with technology such as GPS and platforms such as Facebook all of us are probably easy to locate.
Now the coaching I still have my same number from years ago. Okay, wait a minute, I’m lying, it was changed two years ago when I relocated and had to change carriers. I fought to keep my old line. They told me it was no problem but it didn’t happen. It's true, my number was also my business line. It was unique as well. It was as if a marketing company had obtained it for my company. Unfortunately, I had to change and adapt. The new number ends in “999” which inverted is not anything to be proud of, but 9 is the number of God’s judgment---good or bad. |
Here it is
It’s a mentality. Your number as with other things validates your identity. It’s an establishment of who you are. People value your number and add it to their contact list because they love the reassurance of identifying their connection with you. In the business sense, a phone number can become a person’s jingle or trademark. In other words, how I am able to connect with you---is how I identify with what you have to offer.
The big deal
It means a lot in business and in someone’s personal life, still the same. The old adage---know who your friends are---applies. I may not call or text my buddies all the time, but the assurance of their name and number at my fingertips (or voice prompt) is reassuring. People do not tend to answer calls that they don’t identify. So, identifying a friend’s distress or encouragement may be left to playback.
Again it’s the mentality, what we do on the outside surface of our lives tend to reflect our conduct, behavior, and disposition in other areas of our lives---spirit, soul, body, social, and financial. People need to know their establishment in life---their value and contribution. They need to be connected, not as in social media, but in their human and Kingdom of Heaven value.
Every person has a place of value, a gift from God that as with any trademark of trust, it takes time and years to develop. It takes time to be realized by others. Just as Mickey Dee’s is recognized by their golden arches, all over the world, along with access to their same but unique products, so should be the trademark-trust of everyone’s life. When this is known and valued keeping your life number will become most important.
Here’s the biggy. What if God kept changing his number? Thank God, it’s been the same from the beginning. He did make it easier when he gave us the direct line---In Jesus name. It’s the phone to the throne.
I’m the Victorious Life Coach Clark. As always, I’m just trying to help.
