Snow Angel
by Decea Terin Time Clark
Remember when you were a kid. The times you got down in the snow on your back, and then fanned your arms and legs, to make a snow angel? Well I’m not talking about that kind. What if God sent you your snow angel in human form? This is my testimony of how it happened to me.
Several years ago, around Christmas, I was coming home from my sister’s house in Woodbury, NJ. As I always do, I passed the Deptford Mall to enter the Atlantic City expressway. Unbeknownst to me, this time coming home would turn into my testimony.

Several years ago, around Christmas, I was coming home from my sister’s house in Woodbury, NJ. As I always do, I passed the Deptford Mall to enter the Atlantic City expressway. Unbeknownst to me, this time coming home would turn into my testimony.
I approached the last light passing the mall, right before the expressway entrance. The light was green. However, the car in front of me decided to put on their brakes for no apparent reason. It had snowed a couple days before. There was a lot of snow still around, although some had melted. Sometimes when snow melts on the street and the road surface is freezing; the road becomes coated with slick invisible black ice. So when the young lady in the car, in front of me, decided to brake, I had to unexpectedly brake too. As I did, my wheels began to slide on the ice and I lost control of the brakes. At this moment, I couldn’t stop the car.
I had to think fast to prevent a major accident. I had three choices. I could swerve my car to the left into ongoing traffic, go straight and hit the girl's car, or swerve right and hit the curb plowing into the snow. I chose, what I thought, at the quick moment would have the least impact. I turned my wheel to the right, and plowed up the curb into the snow.
First thing I did after my car stopped was to try to back it up. This action failed because the wheels just kept spinning, while my car stayed in the same place, digging a deeper whole. My car was stuck.
The girl got out of her car and started to apologize. She acknowledged the incident was her fault, but could not explain her action. She offered to help me. Frantically, the two of us attempted to bare-hand dig my car out of the snow. Our efforts was as futile as they looked. My car was still stuck. The young lady then checked her trunk to see if she had anything to dig the snow with. When she returned, she had a flip-flop (sandal). Now I’m laughing inside, but also thinking, "Hey, let’s try it!"
Obviously, like our barehanded effort that didn’t work. Finally, a car pulls up and the people ask, "Are you okay?"
"No," Disgustingly, I replied and they just drove away. About three minutes later another car pulled up. Two young guys get out the car and offered us some help. They tried putting the car in reverse. They tried pushing it. They even tried a combination of both. My car moved a little bit, but not very much.
I remember thinking to myself, I know better than this. I am a child of God and in bad situations such as this; I know to call on his name. So I began to pray and speak in tongues. Little did I know, God was sending me my very own Snow Angel.
After praying for about two minutes, while the guys tried to move my car, another car pulled up in front of the girl’s car and a man gets out. He walks right over to my car and says one word, "Ready?" As soon as he and the boys touched my car, with very little force, my car moved back onto the street.
My car had no dents, no flat, or scuffed tires. There were no problems with my car at all. The man then shook the hands of the gentlemen that helped and proceeded towards me. As he approached me, he spread out his arms in an attempt to give me a hug.
I believe, normally most people, in this situation would not just hug a stranger. At that moment, I didn’t feel that way. I opened my arms and gave him a hug. As soon as I hugged him, I knew God was there, because that was the warmest hug I ever felt in my life.
It was a hug that made your whole body warm. Although it felt like twenty five degrees outside and we had been standing out there for about an hour, his hug took the chill right out of my body. It made me feel happy, like everything was, and would be okay?and it was! I felt so comfortable for just those few seconds. The man then said in a very warm soft voice, "Merry Christmas!"
When he let go, I literally turned my head for five seconds and this unknown man and his car was gone. I looked up towards the next traffic light. It was red and there were no cars waiting. If he turned into the mall, I would have seen his car turning in. He was gone, just like that.
As I’m driving home, thanking God for this miracle, praying to get home safely, I just start thinking about this man. I don’t remember what he looks like. I didn’t even see his face. I don’t know what he was wearing. When he hugged me there was no scent. And although I saw him pull up, I have no idea what make or color of car he was driving. I just remember the white headlights lights as he pulled up, the red tail lights when he put on his brakes, his words, and the HUG!
I arrived home and recalled the story to my family, my eyes filled with tears. They were tears of happiness. After hearing my story, my father said it was an angel. Although this happened several years ago, I’m now just realizing that God sent me my very own "Snow Angel."
This testimony continues to touch me. Every time I think or talk about it, a warm feeling floods my insides. The memory causes my eyes to fill with tears of joy and I begin to smile. The joy continues to surface, because on that night, not only did no one get hurt, and my car was okay, I witnessed a miracle, a prayer being answered, and an angel visitation. It was also confirmation to me that God is here, Jesus is here, he cares, he listens and HE LOVES ME!
